Babies Ever After: In some routes of the game version. All Girls Want Bad Boys: Despite their incredibly jerkass personalities and/or sadomasochistic tendencies, Yui ends up falling for one based on whose route she's in.After her father moves abroad, she is forced to live in a mansion with six mysterious vampires. The heroine of the franchise and the player character. Voiced by: Rie Suegara (anime) (Japanese), Maggie Flecknoe (English), Vanessa Olea (Mexican Spanish). Vampires Are Sex Gods: All the vampires are good looking, and their blood sucking can easily be seen as an analogue for sex.Took a Level in Kindness: They soon started to become nicer in each of their endings, though it doesn't always work well.Though she later can turn into a vampire herself in some endings, making this subverted there. Interspecies Romance: Yui with any and all of the male vampires she meets in the franchise. If they're tremendously ugly, Fangirls wouldn't even be drooling over them.
Is the diabolik lovers game better than the anime full#
Cast Full of Pretty Boys: Obviously, since it's a female-focused franchise.
Brooding Boy, Gentle Girl: All the boys are the sadistic and abusive Brooding Boys while Yui is the gentle, sweet, kindhearted, and forgiving Gentle Girl. Bastard Boyfriend: As a masochist series, most of them act cruel, taunting, and forceful to Yui, which is supposed to be their "Do-S" appeal. Most boys are only interested in her blood but they may genuinely come to love her in some routes. All Men Are Perverts: Obviously Laito, Shu is also this but he's more a Covert Pervert. While a majority of the boys' actions are cruel and abusive, not to mention Karlheinz' treatment of his sons, Cordelia also stands among them as one of the more heinous abusers and is the reason the Sakamaki triplets ended up as messed in the head as they did. All Abusers Are Male: Subverted, actually. Yui is given a glimpse into the childhood of the Sakamaki Brothers and let's just say, anyone with a childhood like that won't turn up sane. Like the games, Ayato and Yui seem to be canon. Ayato: Saved her from drowning (second one is the only one that counts,) caught her after she stabbed herself and dealt a heavy wound on Richter, helped get Reji's formula into her body by kissing her, saved her during a car crash, rescued her from the Mukumis, and agreed to a truce with them to keep Yui safe from the founders. Laito thankfully killed Richter and destroyed Cordelia's dress ensuring his evil mother could never revive again. Reji made a potion that destroyed Cordelia forever allowing Yui to get her body back. Subarau gave Yui a silver knife to defend herself. Kanato destroyed his own teddy to get Cordelia's ashes to use in a formula to destroy his evil mother for good. As sadistic as they are towards Yui, the Sakamiakis have a few "pet the dog" moments with her as well:. The games and manga are considered superior. For instance in the second season Kou Mukumi gives Yui a cherry tomato from his garden and the sucks her blood. Very pointless moments that exist just for padding or getting Yui bit. Extremely poor world-building that is just consisted in the vampires's house and nothing else. The only time he ever does anything shocking is when he stands up. Shu is completely useless in the show. The second season ends on a cliffhanger where the Mukumis and Sakamakis join forces to protect Yui from the Founders and it's just ends right there. Meanwhile Laito's Japanese VA make him sound like a playful and flirtatious vampire while his English VA makes him sound more menacing. The English VA makes him sound like a soft spoken and handsome young man. Kanato is depicted as a creepy psychotic manchild and the Japanese VA shows that well with him. The English dub make the show even worse. The animation is just incredibly stilted, with literally being 5 frames of a single character opening her mouth being putted around the screen. Then again they're vampires and very sadistic and insane, but they don’t have to be like that ALL THE TIME. The Sakamakis often abuse and treat Yui horribly. The show is so formulaic and predictable that the YouTube channel, Anime America, made a drinking game about it. No real plot happens until around episode 7. She never even tried defending herself or standing up for herself, instead, she allows them to hurt her. She does NOTHING in the anime whatsoever. Yui herself is so bland and generic she's regarded as even worse than than Bella Swan. However by episode 12, he suddenly plays a role in saving her life, with no build up to his character to make it work. For instance in episode 6, Kanato tries to kill Yui and turn her into a wax figure.
